David Coenca and Edward Cohen, young entrepreneurs both born in 1988, are the co-founders and CEO and Chairman of CO'S Footsteps Ltd; a company that designs, manufactures and distributes TREADZ shoes.
Edward is French and American and graduated from Cass Business School London in 2009, where he followed a bachelor in Business Studies. He was brought up in Paris but is strongly attached to his American background. Edward has worked in real estate and renovation before starting the brand, and during his free time, he loves watching football, playing tennis, airplanes and shoes. Edward has always had a passion for the building of new industrial projects and there evolutions, and he is glad of the opportunity that is given to him to build and create his own. Throughout working with TREADZ, Edward has specialized himself on sales, marketing, design and client relations.
At age 23, David holds a Masters diploma in Entrepreneurship and an undergraduate diploma in International Business with Finance. David is a native French speaker; he is fluent in English and advanced in Spanish. He has an adventurous streak and so he enjoys discovering new parts of the world. His hobbies include sporting activities such as tennis, skiing and in Argentina, David developed a strong passion for horseback riding. He has an outgoing personality and he is a team player. He enjoys public speaking on topics concerning the current economic financial changes existing in the world.
TREADZ started with David’s interest in a specific product discovered while studying in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He became very attracted to the traditional Argentinean espadrille called Alpargatas and immediately took a liking because of the great style, the sturdiness and the history associated to the product. In the later part of 2008, he discovered that this product was part of the Argentinean lifestyle and that Alpargatas were being sold in Buenos Aires under many different brand names.
Although he was still studying, David’s interest heightened and so he invited his friend Edward to join the venture, knowing he was a hard worker and he could help. They got to work and became the distributors in Europe for a leading Argentinean brand. However they quickly changed the tack because as distributors, they found out that they lacked of freedom on design, marketing and distribution.
Undaunted by the situation and armed with determination, David and Edward decided to try out their entrepreneurial skills and create their own company and brand. They called it TREADZ, because they have the ambition to leave a trace, or many traces left by the footsteps of their followers.
The partnership was faced with obstacles as the young entrepreneurs were discovering a new activity. Their perseverance paid off resulting in the production of a high quality product now available on the market.
Both entrepreneurs are avid environmentalist, and are concerned about the increased depletion of the world’s natural resources. They are glad to be part of the trend of businesses and individuals that are self conscious about the terrible impact of mankind on our planet. Their major concern is about deforestation and the negative effects it has on our world. It is this concern that has led them to dedicate TREADZ’s commitment to saving the rainforests. Consequently they have decided to contribute to maintaining wildlife habitats. Every pair of TREADZ footwear that is bought will guarantee the procuring of land in collaboration with the World Land Trust for the establishment and maintenance of wildlife reserves.
